Human Trafficking, aka Modern Day Slavery, is happening in Sarasota County. Human Trafficking is the exploitation by force, fraud or coercion of vulnerable people for forced labor, domestic servitude or commercial sex exploitation.
Learn about what is happening in your neighborhoods, how to identify incidents of Human Trafficking, and what to do about.
Become aware and help others become aware by distributing posters, fliers, and brochures. Talk about the issue. Enlist groups to join the coalition.

Learn the "Red Flags" and report suspicious situations to law enforcement.
Change your buying habits. Make it clear to businesses that slavery is too high a price to pay for cheap goods.
Help develop local social service resources to assist victims so they can begin the process of restoring their lives.
Report suspicious activities to local law enforcement. Victims you identify and assist may help in the prosecution and conviction of their traffickers.

PLEASE URGE REPRESENTATIVE TO PASS THIS LEGISLATION
Wednesday, November 17 National Call-In Day of Action: National Day of Action to pass the Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking and Victims Support Act (H.R. 5575). If passed, this legislation would provide victims of human trafficking with access to much needed services and shelters. H.R. 5575 would also provide grants to state and local governments who work with social service agencies to train law enforcement and increase investigations.
