Meeting was called to order by Jeanette Ocasio.
Jeanette handed out copies of the arrest report for the first incidence of HT in the city of Sarasota. All names and pertinent information were blacked out.
Jeanette is trying to find a location in Newtown where she can show the film on GEMS. As soon as she finds a location, we can develop a program around the movie.
The HT event with the Girl Scouts is moving forward. Committees for the event are established, and the work for the event is progressing very nicely. Jeanette and Joyce are representing the HTAC at this program with the Girl Scouts.
Mary passed out cards on HT that she had printed for us to pass out in the public to let others know about HT. Thank you, Mary, for the cards and for the donation.
Next meeting is Saturday, June 11, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Night Life, 6240 S. Tamiami Trail.
Respectfully submitted,
Joyce Raby

January 15, 2011
Meeting was called to order by Mary Gurley, vice-president
of the HTAC.
Recent developments include:
1. Girl Scouts is partnering with HTAC and HTAP (Nola Theiss) a full day on sexual trafficking in children on Feb. 18, 2012, at the Girl Scout facility in Sarasota. Those who want to participate need to see Rose Freeman or Joyce Raby.
2. Kim Lassiter, gang prevention coordinator for the Sarasota Police Department, reported that there are 26 gangs in Sarasota.
3. On January 3, 2011, the City of Sarasota presented HTAC with a proclamation for January 11, 2011, Global Human Trafficking Awareness Day. The Proclamation is in our possession. This presentation was shown on SNN several times after it was made at the City Commission meeting.
Jane Blanchard showed Somaly Man today at our meeting to show what happens to Human Trafficking victims. Somaly Man was trafficked in Cambodia. She has now organized homes where former trafficking victims can live and go to school; learn how to get a job, and learn other skills that are needed by them. Human Trafficking is the third largest crime in the world. We need to bring awareness and action to the problem.
Ginger met with Miriam Lasher at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, and Miriam said that the Behavior Ward of Sarasota Memorial Hospital did not want to be involved in our work.
Our group needs to put together a letter to send out for speaking engagements. Many organizations need speakers, and they would be interested in having someone from our group come and speak on HT. Mary and Ginger volunteered to put this letter together.
Tim Enos at the Sarasota County Public Schools has asked that he be contacted about HT and he will gladly send out information to his School Resource Officers on HT.
David recommended that we contact SURE about HT. They may be interested in working on this problem locally.
January 21, 2011, is the date that the FAWL (Florida Association of Female Lawyers) is having their presentation at the Hyatt on Human Trafficking. Contact Evelyn Moya at 954-3990 if you are interested in attending.
